Vintage 1940's Lord Elgin 14kt GF Drivers Watch Unique Lugs
This remarkable looking Lord Elgin Drivers watch was acquired by Jaydnbrok Horology solely on the merit of its very fancy, unique lug design. This lug design serves a purpose, of which, is to make the watch comfortable to wear on the side of the wrist, as shown in the pictures. This way the watch and time is visible to the wearer while both hands are on the wheel while driving! These lugs also serve to enlarge the appearance of the watch on the wrist when worn traditionally.
This 1940’s era American watch is cased in 14kt. Rose Gold filling, rare for the time period, and sporting a matching dial with roman numerals at 12, 3, and 9, with a sub seconds dial neatly placed at the 6 o’clock mark. The original heat blued hands still look fantastic when paired with the high polished cannon pinion and center hand support. The manual wind, American made movement has been fully serviced, is keeping exceptional time, and will likely last a few hundred years if properly cared for.
Don’t let the dimensions of this unique vintage piece fool you, it wears quite well even on my own 7.25” wrist. The long dark brown, genuine leather strap can fit up to an 8” wrist and thanks to it 47mm lug to lug (when worn traditionally) it will not look out of place on larger wrists. Diameter from right to left and excluding the crown is 20.5mm and diagonally from bottom right to top left is 28.3mm. The lug width, or strap size for this piece is 16mm.
This vintage timepiece has been fully serviced and regulated for proper time keeping. Jaydnbrok Horology provides a 90 day warranty, with paperwork, on our pre-owned watches so you have piece of mind when ordering a your vintage watch. Your timepiece will also include and be shipped in our felt travel pouch.
